Richard Boll (born Kenya, 1977) is an award-winning British photographer. He has garnered acclaim for his blend of commercial and fine art photography. His work is characterised by meticulous attention to detail, a deep appreciation for natural light, and an aesthetic that celebrates the power of simplicity.
Boll’s commercial work features a mix of portrait, product, lifestyle, and corporate photography. He works with high-profile global clients across various industries. His commercial work maintains a high level of artistry and precision, whether he’s shooting for advertising campaigns, editorial, or corporate branding.
Richard has won multiple international photography competitions. He has been awarded the prestigious Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize by the National Portrait Gallery in London, a testament to his skill in portrait photography. He was also the winner of the Audi/ Next Level Award for Contemporary Photography and the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Exchange. Richard has a commissioned portrait of Sir David Attenborough in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London and has exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
In addition to his commercial work, Boll’s fine art photography projects explore themes of minimalism and abstraction, inviting viewers to find tranquility and meaning in visual purity. These works are a testament that the most powerful images are often those that evoke a sense of calm and introspection.
Richard graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Photography from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1999 and gained an MA with distinction from the University of Brighton in 2016.
